Who we are

Finca Ganadito is a social enterprise committed to sustainability, providing an eco-conscious living space and a versatile venue for retreats, rentals, and service-based learning. At its core lies an agro-ecological farm dedicated to regenerative agriculture, producing fresh food, improving soil quality, and increasing biodiversity. Outreach programs include sea turtle conservation, forestry reserve stewardship, and educational efforts to promote responsible tourism, food security and sustainable resource management.

Jungle Paradise

Hidden in a secret corner of Drake Bay, off-the-beaten-track, Finca Ganadito is surrounded by luscious rainforests, mangroves and waterfalls, and a sea turtle nesting beach just 500m away with stellar sunsets. Immerse yourself is this tropical playground and experience genuine Tico culture and spectacular wildlife.
Farm-to-Table

Rebe is an expert vegan/veggie chef and uses hand-picked ingredients fresh from the finca in every meal. Using regenerative farming, the finca produces its own soil, fertilizer and microorganisms to grow delicious organic food, including cassava, taro, sweet potato, kale, cucumber, peppers, scallions, spinach, fruits and much more.
Biodiversity

The nearby Corcovado National Park and Caño Island marine reserve are global biodiversity hotspots, with whales, dolphins, turtles, tapirs, monkeys, peccary, sloths, crocodiles and an incredible variety of birdlife. The finca also features primary and secondary forest with a trail perfect for birding and night bug tours.
Yoga

Rebe is a yoga instructor, with over 10 years of teaching experience, and creates energizing and motivating Hatha and Vinyasa yoga classes for guests and groups. Located on the Roundhouse deck, participants are surrounded by butterflies and immersed in the sounds of the jungle, making for the perfect Savasana.
Sustainability

We try to minimize our dependence on unsustainable industries by producing our organic food, farm inputs, oil and cosmetics. We also practice sustainable eco-construction, recycle and upcycle, reforest and rewild, purify our gray wastewater, and only use electricity generated from renewable sources.
Sea Turtle Conservation

We support the local ACOTPRO sea turtle conservation project by leading night patrols, training staff, exhuming nests in the hatchery, and reporting data to the Ministry for Environment. Rob is a sea turtle expert, with 15 years of experience, and provides talks to visitors and guests, student groups and locals.
Coconut Oil & Soap Making

Our guests and groups produce cold-pressed, virgin coconut oil and milk using coconuts from Ganadito Beach. While the milk goes to make a delicious farm-to-table curry, the oil is saponified to produce sumptuous hot process soap to take home, using natural colors and aromas.
Spanish

As a naturalized Costa Rican, Rob has taught Spanish as a second language to hundreds of guests and groups as part of their itineraries. His enthusiastic style includes games and prizes and a focus on verbs and conversation relating to travel and backpacking.

Service Learning

We specialize in providing academic-focused packages for school and university groups wanting to learn about tropical ecology, regenerative farming, conservation and sustainability. Bespoke, modular itineraries combine classes and practical work in the field with tours, Spanish and yoga.
Group Vacations

We host diverse group vacations, including families, women, influencers, LGBTQ+, birders, photographers and Worldpackers Epic Trips. Itineraries include hands-on regenerative farming, eco-construction, conservation and sustainability activities, plus tours, Spanish and yoga, and plenty of time for play.
Yoga Retreats

Our tropical sanctuary offers the most tranquil setting for yoga and wellness retreats. We offer both one-week retreat packages led by Rebe, or tailor-made itineraries created for yoga instructors wishing to lead their own program. A combination of budget and elegant accommodation options are available, plus logistical support and payment plans.
Rentals

The finca boasts three beautifully constructed rental properties, the Bungalow, Cabin and Studio, with space for up to 6, 4 and 3, respectively. These cabins feature teak floors, hot showers, verandas, hammocks, kitchen-diners, and lightning-fast Starlink internet perfect for digital nomads.
Facilities

Group accommodation is based in the brand-new, purpose-built Roundhouse with 12 bunk beds, hammocks and a bathroom block with compost toilets and showers. The Longhouse has an open-plan kitchen-diner, cinema screen and sound system, and provides a space for meals, service learning classes and movie nights. There are several deck spaces for yoga and there is high-speed Starlink internet available throughout the property.
